The story

One sunny morning in Glimmer Valley, Milo the little dragon, Poppy the little bunny, and Glimmer the golden firefly played beside a calm blue pond, where green lily pads floated and soft reeds swayed gently.

Milo held his favorite yellow flower close. But a little breeze came, and the flower slipped from his paws and floated far out onto the water.

"My flower. It floated away," said Milo. "I can't reach it."

Milo's shoulders drooped, and his big eyes grew sad. He sat down quietly at the edge of the pond.

Poppy saw Milo's sad face right away. She stopped playing and came to sit close beside him.

"Are you okay, Milo?" she asked gently. "I am right here with you."

Poppy thought for a moment. Then she had a kind idea. She reached gently into the soft reeds and picked a fresh new flower, pink and pretty.

"Here, Milo," she said. "This one is for you."

Glimmer floated close and gave a warm little glow, making the new flower shine.

"For me? Thank you, Poppy," said Milo. "That is so kind." His sad face melted into a big, warm smile, and together they watched the pond sparkle.

"When a friend feels sad, a little kindness helps," said Poppy. And it did โ€” Milo felt cozy and cared for, all the way down to his tail. So by the calm blue pond, the three friends smiled together in the warm morning sun. A small act of kindness can turn a sad day into a happy one.

๐Ÿ’› What this story teaches

Kindness is noticing when a friend feels sad โ€” and doing one small, warm thing to help. Poppy didn't fix everything; she simply sat close and gave a little gift. A small act of kindness can turn a sad day into a happy one.

๐ŸŒธ Talk about it together

Ask your child: "Have you ever seen a friend feel sad? What is one kind thing you could do to help?"

Try this: Look for one moment today when someone feels down โ€” and do one small kind thing: a hug, a helping hand, or just sitting close. Notice together how good it feels to be kind.

๐ŸŒผ A little activity: the kindness jar

Together, think of small kind things โ€” share a toy, say a kind word, give a hug, help someone. Draw or name one each day and try it. See how many happy faces your kindness can make this week!
